
Lineworkers build and maintain electrical power systems. They do all the work from the point of generation (power plants) all the way to the customer's meter. The lines may be high towers, street poles and overhead structures or underground systems. They maybe in rural and metropolitan areas. The work is varied and exciting.
Tasks include; planning and Initiating projects, safety requirements, setting of towers and poles, maintaining and repairing overhead distribution or transmission lines, erecting new wiring, maintaining old wiring, installing and maintaining insulators, installing and maintaining transformers and other equipment, supervising apprentices, installing and maintaining an underground distribution systems, assembly and erection of Substations and so on.
